Medemblik- Looking for a fun outing for the autumn holidays? Then come to the Steam Engine Museum in Medemblik and discover the power of water and fire. From Saturday 14 to Sunday 29 October, the boiler will be fired up and you can see the robust machines in operation. Engine drivers and tour guides will be happy to explain how the machines work and what steam meant. There is also plenty to see and do for children at the museum.
Adventure for children
Step into the shoes of a steam detective and playfully discover the museum with the fun treasure hunt. In the boiler room, the stoker could use an extra hand. If you help him to keep the fire in the boiler burning, you will earn the 'helper's diploma'. Want to make your own steam and discover what steam power does? You can do that with one of the miniature steam engines in our Steam Room.
Forge
On Wednesdays and Sundays, you can watch the blacksmith at work in the old smithy of the pumping station. If you help the blacksmith fan the blacksmith's fire by operating the big bellows, you will receive the diploma of assistant blacksmith and maybe even a present forged by him. So roll up your sleeves, because you don't come to the Steam Engine Museum to do nothing!
